Cleansing the Body and Consecrating your Equipment Before spellcasting it is traditional to bathe in a bath of cleansing herbs, sage, rosemary and sandalwood being the most popular.
Another way of cleansing the body is by purifying it with smoke, this is called smudging. I prefer to take a mixture of rosemary and sage and add a few drops of sandalwood oil, roll it into a ball, place it into a fireproof bowl and light it. I then take a white feather and fan the smoke from the burning mixture over the body. When finished, be sure to pass the feather through the smoke nine times to cleanse it.
Consecrating your equipment
Place an upright pentagram on the altar or table and place one of the following at each corner, a bowl of salt, a bowl of fresh spring water, a candle, an incense cone and a clear quartz crystal. Place the items to be used in your spell inside of the pentagram, light the candle and the incense cone, point your athame at each corner and repeat for each item, I place this (name of item) to be blessed and consecrated by the powers of earth, air, fire and water and call upon The Angels of light to force out any negative energies attached to it. When all of the items have been consecrated, sprinkle salt and water over them and say,
Let these tools be purified and work only for the greater good.
You are now ready to cast your circle.
